Where did your business name come from?
When I decided to turn one of my favorite hobbies into a business I knew I wanted to stand out a bit from everyone around me. Everyone used their names which is wonderful, but I decided to go a different way. SkyEye is just a positive mantra for me reminding me to always keep my head up and stay positive! Keep my eyes to the sky!
Have you always been passionate about photography?
My passion for photography started with a multi media degree and an interest in visual arts. I noticed I had an eye for getting great shots and I could transfer that over to photos as well. Once I started working with clients I realized how much fun it was and how much I loved making people happy through photography. The rest is history! I just LOVE working with people.
I love the fact that you are also a lactation consultant. Why did you decide to combine your compassion for helping mothers with your love of photography?
Since becoming a mother and struggling immensely with my breastfeeding endeavors, I decided to become a CLC to help other struggling mothers with evidence based research and counseling to build confidence. Again, I find a great deal of pleasure in supporting my fellow mamas with their goals. We all need it. Once I started my CLC business I realized that I could also help a mom latch after downing her birth photos, or educate a mother about her pump during our newborn session. And of course answer tons of questions at a maternity session. It just beautifully fit together and it also helps me stand out as a professional in both areas.
What has been your proudest moment since creating your business?
I have had too many proud moments to count! The best part is how happy I make my clients. I continue to grow as a photographer and I even have a group of other professional photographer women whom I mentor and also who mentor me! I LOVE how we support each other and help each other learn and become better. We even refer each other if we are booked and can’t shoot a client when they need it. There’s no competition. Just respect and lots of love. I’m particularly proud of the work I have done with local magazines and as a photographer for a promotional company. I love my clients!
What inspires you?
I am inspired by great lighting, fun and unique locations and by each and every one of my clients.
What is your favorite Mad Hatter Quote and why?
If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary
wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see? This one seems to sum up what life can be like with 2 small children and 3 businesses!
Is there anything else you would like for us to know about you?
I just started making breastmilk keepsakes which is also something fun and has become another passion of mine. I am currently working towards getting my IBCLC and I am just so pumped to serve my community in any way I can.
